Melanie Walker spent over 19 years at an AmLaw 10 firm in Chicago, where she served as deputy head of the 100+ lawyer litigation group. In 2021, she joined DLA Piper in Los Angeles, where she serves as co-chair of its Corporate & Securities Litigation practice and head of the Los Angeles litigation group. She has been instrumental in growing DLA Piper’s Los Angeles litigation group, attracting and retaining high level talent. Throughout her career, Walker has tackled novel issues in the securities litigation space and beyond. She was on the team that won Tellabs, Inc. v. Makor Issues & Rights, Ltd., (2007) before the US Supreme Court, setting the standard for what plaintiffs need to plead to adequately allege a “strong inference of scienter” under the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act. More recently, Walker has been on the cutting edge of litigation related to SPACs.
