As co-chair of BCLP’s Appellate and Supreme Court Group, J.C. André has strengthened the firm’s appellate practice and reputation. Prior to BCLP, André was a partner and head of Sidley Austin’s Supreme Court and Appellate Practice. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable A. Andrew Hauk of the US District Court for the Central District of California and the Honorable Harry Pregerson of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
André splits his two decades of active practice— predominantly as an appellate lawyer, and primarily in the federal courts—between government service and the private sector. He has personally briefed and/or argued hundreds of distinct appeals before the US Supreme Court, various US Circuit Courts of Appeals, the California Supreme Court and the California Court of Appeal, including dozens of briefs and three arguments before the US Supreme Court.
