Pasadena attorney and civic leader Laura Farber formally began her role last week as president-elect of the American Bar Association.
With that setup position underway, the Hahn & Hahn partner is poised to take leadership of the legacy organization next August. She’ll succeed Cincinnati-based attorney Barbara Howard at that time.
“This is an extraordinary honor and a responsibility that I accept with gratitude,” Farber said in a statement. “My decades-long involvement with the ABA and my professional journey to this point have only reinforced my lifelong belief in the necessity of access to justice, the rule of law and democracy. I look forward to working alongside President Barbara Howard and our ABA colleagues in the year ahead.”
Farber has remained involved with the ABA since 1994. Those roles have included representing California in the ABA House of Delegates, membership to the Day Planning Committee and advising the ABA Fund for Justice and Education.
Farber was also president of the Tournament of Roses Association for the 131st Rose Parade held on Jan. 1, 2020, and, as chair of the Rose Bowl Management Committee, helped negotiate the Rose Bowl Game’s inclusion in the new college football playoff system.
At Pasadena-based Hahn & Hahn, Farber runs an employment and commercial litigation practice, working with employers in employee disputes. The Argentina native attended the University of California, Los Angeles.

The Palisades Village is on track to reopen this coming Saturday, complete with a celebration.
Civic leaders and shopping center tenants will kick things off with a ribbon-cutting at 10:30 a.m., after which doors will finally open to the public. The retail anchor for Pacific Palisades – one of Caruso’s many outdoor centers in the Los Angeles area – has spent over 19 months closed after the Palisades Fire in January 2025.
