years as we strengthened our coalition of members and successfully advocated on some of the most important issues facing L.A.,” Lall said. She will transition from the business organization to a yet-undisclosed position, but it will be in the private sector.

One of the most interesting quotes in last week’s issue of the Business Journal was in the market insights column by Rick Barragan of J.P. Morgan Private Bank regarding the impulse to exit the stock market during turbulent times. The quote: “In the past 20 years alone, the S&P 500 annualized return was 9.7%, but missing just 10 of the market’s best days, which tend to occur within less than one month of the 10 worst days, would have reduced that annualized return to 5.5%.”

California has dethroned Vermont as the No. 1 state to visit this fall. That’s according to a ranking put out recently by LawnStarter, which compared 20 indicators of a fun fall trip, including hiking trails, fall-themed amusements such as pumpkin patches and, of course, the quality of fall foliage – which is one big reason Vermont was No. 1 last year.
The Golden State was knocked for its lack of corn mazes, hayrides and the like. But the survey said this: “Camp your way through the hundreds of scenic byways and state parks, as well as thousands – yes, thousands – of forest and hiking trails meandering throughout the state. California placed first in every single one of these ranking factors.”
Oh, and the fall colors are not bad either, the company said.
