Cal Poly Pomona, through its Singelyn Graduate School of Business and the College of Pharmacy at Western University of Health Sciences have launched a dual assurance PharmD-MBA Program.
The program will allow graduates of WesternU’s Doctor of Pharmacy program will be able to pursue a Master of Business Administration degree at CPP and give students expertise in both health care and business skills.
“Health care is a field that is rapidly evolving. We want our graduates to be prepared to act as pharmacy leaders who will manage large budgets, motivate teams and establish technology strategy. The dual assurance program gives WesternU pharmacy graduates a significant advantage in joining a great MBA program in our region,” Sunil Prabhu, dean of the College of Pharmacy at WesternU, said in a statement.
The program will cost roughly $19,500 in tuition plus fees for the MBA program.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Western University of Health Sciences to launch this innovative program,” Sandeep Krishnamurthy, dean of the Singelyn Graduate School of Business, said in a statement. “By combining two fields of study, we aim to empower pharmacy professionals to become leaders in the business aspects of health care. We believe this is a national best practice that we are bringing to our region.”

In other education news, the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics at CSUN recently named Shuming Bai as its associate dean. Bai was previously the dean of the College of Business at McNeese State University in Louisiana and as a professor of finance and associate dean at Eastern Washington University.
“I am pleased to welcome Dr. Bai to Nazarian College. Her enthusiasm and nearly 30 years of experience as a faculty member, researcher and administrative leader will be instrumental as we navigate the opportunities and complexities of today’s educational environment,” Chandra Subramaniam, dean of Nazarian College, said in a statement.

Meanwhile the Biola University, in La Mirada, and In-N-Out Burger, which is moving its headquarters back to Baldwin Park, have created the In-N-Out Leadership academy.
The program is a series of six workshops taught by Biola faculty on financial, operational and strategic concepts for senior In-N-Out leaders.
