The Hollywood Burbank Airport will soon have a new leader. Its executive director, Frank Miller, announced plans last week to retire Jan. 17.
Miller is an industry veteran who has led five airports during a career in aviation that spans more the four decades.
John Hatanaka has been appointed the airport’s next executive director.
He joined the Hollywood Burbank Airport in 2002 and is currently its senior deputy executive director.
Hatanaka has more than 45 years of experience in the aviation industry.
The airport is the midst of a $1.3 billion overhaul, replacing a nearly century old terminal with a new one.

Prominent CBRE Group Inc. multifamily broker Laurie Lustig-Bower is retiring after 26 years with the brokerage.
First Vice Presidents Kadie Presley Wilson and Kamran Paydar will co-lead her team going forward.
“Laurie has been a pioneering force in the industry, achieving the rank of No. 1 producer for CBRE’s Private Capital Group nationally and frequently placing in the top 2% within the company,” Andrew Ratner, an executive managing director at CBRE said. “During her career, Laurie has built and led a team of eight professionals specializing in the marketing and sale of multifamily properties across Southern California and Hawaii. Over the past 20 years alone, Laurie and her team have handled over $12 billion in properties.”
Some of Lustig-Bower’s biggest transactions include the sale of the 8-acre former Robinsons-May department store development site for $500 million in 2007 and the sale of Metropolis, a downtown development site, for $145 million.
She is also a founding member of CBRE’s Women’s Networking Group.
Lustig-Bower’s husband, retail broker Tim Bower, is also retiring.
