A seasoned first-chair trial lawyer, Michael Sandonato is a co-chair of Venable’s IP Litigation Practice Group. Sandonato has proved himself to be adept in representing clients across a broad range of forums that include US district courts across the country, the International Trade Commission, the PTAB, domestic and international arbitrations, and US Customs and Border Protection. His clients include Canon, Dentsply Sirona, Philips and Prudential Financial, and he has litigated a broad range of technologies, including digital cameras, laser toner cartridges, smartphones, dental technologies, graphical user interfaces, financial products and test equipment.
Among Sandonato’s recent wins was representing Candid Care in a years-long lawsuit involving orthodontic technology. Also in 2023, Sandonato led the team that prevailed on an appeal in the Sixth Circuit on behalf of Prudential. He has also prevailed this year for Canon in several Amazon take-down matters, prompting the removal of counterfeit products from the marketplace.
