Paul Sweeney has practiced law for over 30 years, focusing on complex business disputes, both individual and class action lawsuits, involving unfair business practices, false advertising, consumer fraud, trade regulation, privacy violations, breach of contract and violations of various federal and state statutes and regulations. He is both a litigator and a trial attorney, having handled a number of bench and jury trials. He has also served on his firm’s Management and Executive committees, and has served as the firmwide chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Passionate about his community, Sweeney grew up in Los Angeles, and is a product of its public school system, having attended Cienega Elementary School, Audubon Middle School and Dorsey and Hamilton High Schools. He is also an honors graduate of USC (Business/Finance).

Sweeney also leads by example in his community impact efforts. He currently serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of Public Counsel (former chairperson), the Hollywood YMCA (former chairperson), and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. He was also appointed by the Los Angeles Mayor to serve as a commissioner of the City of Los Angeles on its Civil Service Commission, on the Board of the Getty House Foundation and he has served as a volunteer prosecutor in the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, Criminal Branch and worked on the White House staff in Washington, DC as a White House Fellow. He speaks frequently before such organizations as the National Bar Association and Association of Corporate Counsel Southern California Chapter, and recently coauthored a K&L Gates Legal Insight on the California Consumer Privacy Act.
