Shara Castillo has worked for 17 years as an architect. With projects across the country, Castillo draws inspiration from many different locales, such as Los Angeles–a melting pot of ideas, cultures, topographies, and architectural styles. Thriving on the magic variety brings, Castillo welcomes a final product that successfully integrates disparate pieces, while optimizing the local climate. This enables her to create high-impact sustainable design solutions that provide operational savings for her clients and help preserve the environment for years to come.
Castillo believes architects have a vast responsibility to create buildings that can both stand the test of time and benefit the planet. Buildings can be icons to a community, able to influence positive change in the surrounding environment and among those that use and engage with the building. She knows the importance of thinking about the lifespan of a building and its potential changes over time.
