John Gibson focuses on complex litigation, including antitrust, class action and multi-district litigation defense. In 33 years of practice, he has won high-profile trials and cases in California and around the nation for industry-leading companies, professional sports teams, and pro bono clients seeking social justice. These range from winning the “Trial of the Decade” in Los Angeles to winning the nation’s first mandatory federal court injunction requiring a school district to accommodate the service dog of a student with autism.
Gibson’s recent accomplishments include successfully arguing a motion for the transfer of multiple putative class actions around the nation to N.D. Cal. for a top Silicon Valley technology company. He also won summary judgment for a leading technology company, defeating an unfair competition law claim in a precedent-setting antitrust and contract litigation to determine fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory licensing terms for a worldwide portfolio of standard-essential mobile-telecommunications patents.
