Dr. Carol Mangione is the chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research and the Barbara A. Levey, MD, and Gerald S. Levey, MD, endowed chair in medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Her areas of expertise include diabetes, diabetes prevention, health disparities, aging, public health, health insurance benefit design and public health policy. She is also a practicing primary care physician in the UCLA Faculty Practice Group. Among her many research activities, she was the principal investigator for “The Diabetes Health Plan” to evaluate the effectiveness of the first disease-specific health plan in the US.
