Veteran broker Bill Bloodgood has been named executive managing director, agency market leader – Los Angeles at Newmark Knight Frank.
Bloodgood was previously a senior vice president at CBRE Group Inc. Over the last 10 years he was involved in the sale, leasing and underwriting of more than 8 million square feet of institutional-quality office space.
“It’s a smaller firm but with some very, very talented people and a leading market position in the investment sales business and I think there’s an incredible opportunity for growth,” Bloodgood said.
In Newmark’s third-quarter earnings report, Barry M. Gosin, chief executive of Newmark Group Inc., said that the company was continuing “to attract industry-leading professionals who are drawn to our entrepreneurial culture, productivity-enhancing technology, and client focus.”
Gosin said the company grew its front office workforce by 6% the past year and was recruiting. He added that the company experienced a 31% volume growth in investment sales.
“They’ve done an incredible job building a team of brokers over the past five years led by Kevin Shannon and his investment sales group,” Bloodgood said. “I thought there was an opportunity working with Kevin to increase the landlord agency or advisory group here at Newmark.”
Bloodgood’s new role was part of the firm’s “plan to continue to grow throughout the West Coast,” Gosin said in a statement.
Bloodgood will focus on landlord agency representation. He’ll be working specifically with institutional owners and high net worth private capital on landlords’ leasing needs. He said the move would “capitalize on an already robust investment sales business.”
Bloodgood will work on all of Los Angeles, not a specific submarket. He did not bring anyone from CBRE over with him and declined to name specific clients.
Bloodgood isn’t the only broker to change firms in recent months. Allan Brass returned to Savills Inc. from Cushman & Wakefield Inc.; Jones Lang LaSalle Inc. hired industrial experts Rustin Mork and Danny Reaume as senior vice presidents; Paul Park left JLL to become senior vice president at Hughes Marino’s Los Angeles office; and Hayden Eaves was brought to Avison Young Inc. as a principal after roles with Colliers International Group Inc., Coldwell Banker Commercial Residential and Cushman & Wakefield.
