The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday endorsed City Controller Wendy Greuel for Los Angeles mayor in next month’s primary election.

The chamber’s political action committee, known as L.A. Jobs PAC, chose Greuel after interviews with the three leading mayoral candidates, including City Councilmembers Eric Garcetti and Jan Perry.

“This was a very difficult decision for the L.A. Jobs PAC,” Chamber Chief Executive Gary Toebben said in a statement. “Wendy has a long record of working with the chamber to champion job creation and build a stronger economy in Los Angeles.”

Greuel, a former city councilwoman and also a former DreamWorks executive, co-owns along with other family members Frontier Building Supply in the San Fernando Valley.

Last week, the Valley Industry and Commerce Association also endorsed Greuel for the March 5 primary. The city’s other major business group, the Central City Association, has not yet endorsed a candidate for mayor.
