Los Angeles Mayor-elect Antonio Villaraigosa made several high-level appointments on Friday, including veteran City Hall aide Robin Kramer as his chief of staff.
Kramer, 52, served as chief of staff to former Mayor Richard Riordan before leaving in 1998 to take the top staff post at the California Community Foundation. She also served as executive director of the Broad Foundation until Villaraigosa tapped her as senior consultant to his transition team.
Villaraigosa also named two deputy chiefs of staff: Marcus Allen, who is chief deputy controller to Laura Chick, and Villaraigosa’s current chief on City Council, Jimmy Blackman. Community Redevelopment Agency Executive Director Robert “Bud” Ovrom was named deputy mayor for community and economic development. And Carolyn Webb de Macias, who had been chief of staff to former Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas, will serve as a senior advisor.
The appointments become effective when Villaraigosa takes office on July 1. They do not require City Council confirmation.
