AquaSonic, an oral care device brand owned by Onyx Global Group, in recent weeks launched an exclusive product line in Walmart Inc. stores nationwide.
The Precision line of AquaSonic’s electric toothbrushes and water flossers is now available at more than 1,400 Walmart stores, specifically designed for the store’s price-conscious model. It makes it the company’s latest brick-and-mortar product expansion, following a separate offering at Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. The company also currently sells through Amazon.com Inc.
Launched in 2017, AquaSonic was meant to bridge the gap between the typical toothbrush and the expensive legacy electric options.
“That’s when we realized there was a big wide space in the oral care market,” said Arsalan Rahbarpoor, co-founder and chief executive of Onyx Global and AquaSonic.
Upgrades
AquaSonic this past week also began life in its new Boyle Heights headquarters, relocating from its former Chinatown home. The new space is about five times larger, reflecting the company’s increased need for product storage. AquaSonic has about 30 SKUs, or stock keeping units, of product in production or development.
“Our business is growing rapidly. We needed more space,” Rahbarpoor said. “Our team is growing. Our business is growing. We do most of our business in the last three months of the year, and also in January.”
The self-funded company handles design and engineering work here, while manufacturing is handled overseas.
“We saw the tariff war happen a few years ago, so we shifted a lot of our manufacturing from China to Vietnam,” Rahbarpoor added. “That definitely mitigated a lot of the costs.”
