Chicago law firm Segal McCambridge Singer & Mahoney Ltd. this month merged Sawtelle law firm Chapman Glucksman into its operation – nearly two years after breaking into the Los Angeles market.
The move adds 36 attorneys to Segal McCambridge’s L.A. footprint, bringing its total to 42. The litigation firm entered the L.A. market with a Century City outpost in December 2023, bringing in Christopher Norton to run the operation.
Richard Glucksman, a founder of Chapman Glucksman and now a shareholder with Segal McCambridge, said after 40 years it was time to combine his firm’s strengths with a nationwide operation and enhance its offerings to its clients.
“Our team of highly experienced litigators and attorneys is excited to join a firm with a strong track record of helping companies and individuals with complex litigation and business challenges,” Glucksman said in a statement. “Segal McCambridge is known for being a trusted partner and adviser for its effective strategies that help clients achieve their objectives, so it is a natural fit for our team to join forces with this firm.”
A growing presence
This merger represents a significant boost in Segal McCambridge’s West Coast operations, which began previously with an office in San Francisco. Its Century City office initially launched with Norton and John Eberlein, a transfer from San Francisco. This merger vaults the local office into a solid mid-size operation in L.A.’s Westside and adds the merging firm’s Sawtelle location as a secondary office.
Segal McCambridge Managing Shareholder Jason Eckerly, who previously identified the West Coast as the firm’s new focus for growth, hailed this move as a key part of its strategy.
