Pasadena-based engineering, infrastructure and consulting firm Tetra Tech Inc. in recent weeks has announced a trio of contracts, two of which are worth a combined total of more than $100 million.

On July 15, the company announced that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded it a $94 million contract to provide technical services in EPA Region 7 (covering Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska) to support the agency’s Superfund Technical Assessment & Response Team. Under the seven-year contract, Tetra Tech scientists, engineers, and technical specialists will support preparedness and response activities for chemical and hazardous materials releases, oil spills, industrial accidents and natural disasters.

Smaller contract at $10M

A week later, Tetra Tech announced a smaller contract in its own backyard. The West Basin Municipal Water District, which serves the South Bay region of Los Angeles County, has awarded the company a $10 million contract to modernize its process control system used by water treatment facilities that serve nearly one million people across 17 cities.

“West Basin Municipal Water District is an internationally recognized leader in water recycling and water resource management,” Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech’s chief executive, said in the announcement. “We are pleased to use our ‘leading with science’ approach to strengthen the critical digital automation systems that support West Basin’s Water for Tomorrow program.”

Earlier last month, Tetra Tech was one of more than a dozen companies or joint ventures that are eligible to bid for individual projects under a five-year master contract worth up to $248 million from the Europe district of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Under the master contract, the firms will provide multidisciplinary architectural and engineering design services for array of facilities.
