Since joining UCLA Health in 2021, E. Dale Abel, MD, PhD has launched an ambitious strategic plan to expand clinical care access, drive research innovation, and bolster training opportunities to develop leaders in all facets of health including care delivery and research innovation. Dr. Abel has transformed the field of endocrinology by elucidating the metabolic mechanisms that lead to heart failure in the context of diabetes and obesity. He has published more than 280 peer-reviewed publications and has been recognized by the Endocrine Society, the American Heart Association, the International Academy for Cardiovascular Scientists, and others as a leader in the field.
