In an effort to bring more customers to its streaming service, The Walt Disney Co. is launching new shows.
Disney announced last week a new premiere date for its latest “Star Wars” series from Lucasfilm Ltd., “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.”
The first two episodes will premiere today at 6 p.m. exclusively on Disney Plus. The series was originally set to premiere on Dec. 3.
Also now appearing on Disney Plus is “Beatles ‘64” from producer Martin Scorsese and directed by David Tedeschi.
Featuring never-before-seen footage, the film gives a rare glimpse into when The Beatles first visited the United States, but also tells a more intimate behind-the-scenes story, capturing the camaraderie of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr as they experienced incredible fame.
The music and footage are augmented by newly filmed interviews with McCartney and Starr, as well as fans whose lives were transformed by The Beatles.
Disney reported its earnings last month, beating Wall Street estimates on revenue and earnings in its fiscal fourth quarter.
Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger called the fiscal year a pivotal and successful one for the company.
“Thanks to the significant progress we’ve made, we have emerged from a period of considerable challenges and disruption well positioned for growth and optimistic about our future,” Iger said in a statement.
