Less than a year later, Li delivered in a big way when he secured a $15 million jury award (and ultimately a nearly $30 million settlement) for Kobe Bryant’s widow Vanessa in the nationally covered trial following the helicopter crash that took the life of the basketball legend, their daughter and seven others. The jury returned its verdict in favor of Bryant after just four hours of deliberation. Their conclusion followed a two-week trial in which Li and his team demonstrated that Los Angeles County first responders lacked proper training and policies.
