LA500 2024: Stan Kasten

Chief Executive, President, Los Angeles Dodgers

Kasten serves as the Dodgers’ chief executive and president. Last year, the team signed powerhouse pitcher Shohei Ohtani to a $700 million, 10-year record-breaking deal. The pitcher has since been the subject of much controversy. Kasten has been a sports figure for four decades. Under his leadership the Dodgers have won eight consecutive National League West division titles, three of the past four National League pennants and the 2020 World Series. Also in 2020, the team was named ESPN’s 2020 Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year for the work of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation. In 2022, the game won the 2022 All-Star Game, marking the first time the event was in L.A. since 1980. Kasten has been a member of various MLB, NBA and NHL ownership committees and is a former trustee of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. He is the first sports figure to hold the title of president of three different teams in three different sports simultaneously. He was also involved in the launch of a professional women’s hockey league earlier this year. The Professional Women’s Hockey League is owned by Dodgers owner’s Mark Walter’s investment firm.
