SmartGateVC is a venture capital fund, which invests in early-stage artificial intelligence companies. The firm has made 30 investments to date and operates an accelerator program called Hero House. As managing director of Hero House, Galstyan helps the program to support and connect with startup tech companies with artificial intelligence at their core. Galstyan has a specific focus on helping Eastern European startups to expand in the U.S. market and runs U.S. affairs for SmartGateVC as a principal. Her role includes sourcing investment opportunities, conducting due diligence and assisting with the management of portfolio companies.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
There’s been a lot of good advice over the years, but if I had to pick one, I’d say “work hard and surround yourself with hardworking people.”
What’s your favorite movie, all time and in any category?
“The Pursuit of Happyness.”
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
Running a marathon.
What’s the best thing about living in Los Angeles?
The year-round sunny weather and being close to the Bay Area. I invest in early-stage tech companies, so it’s handy to reach San Francisco quickly.
