Chernin steered back to Hollywood after the tech industry cooled, where he was previously very active. In July 2022, he arranged the purchase of Red Arrow Studios’ U.S. assets for a reported $180 million, rolling its reality TV content into newly created North Road Co. Private equity giants Providence Equity Partners and Apollo are bankrolling the expansion. In January 2023, Qatar Investment Authority put $150 million into North Road. In September 2022, Chernin formed Night Capital to launch consumer-facing business with celebrity talent. In March 2023 his “New Girl” TV series jumped to streamers Hulu and Peacock from Netflix. Chernin is an American Express director. Chernin previously served as president and chief operating officer of News Corporation and chair and chief executive of Fox Group. During his tenure at News Corp. and Fox, Chernin oversaw the studio and greenlit two of the highest-grossing films of all time, “Titanic” and “Avatar”. He is a co-founder and co-chairman of Malaria No More, a non-profit dedicated to the global eradication of malaria.
