LA500 2024: Andrew Cohen

Global Co-Chair, Gensler

Cohen has been with Gensler for more than four decades and served as co-chief executive for nearly 20 years, overseeing the long-term goals and day-to-day operations of one of the world’s largest architecture and design firms by revenue. On Jan. 1, he became global co-chair, responsible for setting Gensler’s strategic priorities and overseeing its mission across 53 offices. Gensler designed the new headquarters and training facility for the Los Angeles Chargers and led the design of the recently completed $2.3-billion Delta Sky Way project at LAX.

What’s the best advice you ever got?
My father advised me, “Follow your passions, follow your dreams, be
cause if you do what you love, you will always be totally fulfilled and successful in your life.” I took his advice!

What’s your favorite movie, all time and in any category?
I love the movie “Groundhog Day,” because it’s all about maximizing your potential, living out your personal values of integrity and trust, and having empathy for other people.

What’s at the top of your bucket list?
I’m a cyclist, so riding the Tour de France route is on my bucket list.
