LA500 2024: William McMorrow

Chair, Chief Executive, Kennedy Wilson

McMorrow serves as chair and chief executive of Kennedy Wilson, which he acquired in 1988 and has subsequently grown into a leading global real estate investment platform. The company began with just one office and 11 employees, and today, encompasses 13 offices throughout the U.S. and Europe with $25 billion of assets under management across the property spectrum. McMorrow is heavily involved with the USC community, including endowing the Neighborhood Academic Initiative.

What’s the best advice you ever got?
Growing up, my dad dispensed a lot of advice that mainly focused on the value of hard work and treating people with respect. That is still the foundation of how I approach my life and my role at Kennedy Wilson today. I’ve also taken to heart George Graziadio’s advice to me from long ago – T.N.T (Today Not Tomorrow!). This concept, combined with taking prudent chances in life and understanding the power of “yes,” had led to some of the best opportunities.

What’s your favorite movie, all time and in any category?
My favorite movie is “Forrest Gump.”

What’s at the top of your bucket list?
At the top of my bucket list is sailing on an authentic Hawaiian voyaging canoe from Kona to Maui – that would be quite the adventure!
