LA500 2024: Louis ‘Skip’ Miller

Founding Partner, Miller Barondess LLP

For more than 50 years, Miller has made a name for himself in courtrooms representing governmental entities, public and private corporations, Fortune 500 companies and entertainers. He co-founded Century City-based Miller Barondess LLP in 2006 and has since grown it to 50 attorneys.

What’s the best advice you ever got? I was trying to figure out where to go to college. My dad suggested where my girlfriend Sherry was going and it’s the best advice I ever got. Sherry and I have been married for 54 years and together for 60. She inspired me to start my own law firm with our two sons in 2006, and now we have 50 lawyers and are doing great.

What’s your favorite movie, all time and in any category? It has to be “A Few Good Men.” I’m a Jack Nicholson fan.

What was your first car? 1964 Yellow Chevy Corvair Convertible, with four-on-the-floor and loud mufflers.

Like to have it back? Absolutely. I loved that car. I still have dreams about it.

What’s the best thing about living in Los Angeles? The weather. And also the location of our house – an acre in the hills with a 180 degree view of the bay and the city.
