Eanes is Cal State LA’s first female president and was appointed to the role this year. She succeeds Interim President Leroy M. Morishita, and is the university’s ninth president. She previously served as president of York College, City University of New York, where she oversaw a $91 million budget and was a professor in the Department of Social Work. Eanes received the CSU’s Wang Family Excellence Award in 2018. She was vice president for student affairs at California State University, Fullerton, from 2012 to 2019. She has been a faculty member or administrator at institutions including Columbia University, Georgia State University, Hamilton College and Morehouse College. Eanes earned a bachelor’s degree in public health from Dillard University, a master’s degree in social work from Boston University and a doctorate in social work from Clark Atlanta University.
