Rod Berman has been on the cutting edge of intel- lectual property law for over 40 years. He has represented a who’s who of clients in connection with patent, trade secret, trademark, internet and copyright issues, including the Smurf properties, Allergan, Shimano, U-Haul, Therabody, Paige and Cherokee. He represents several wine brands including the iconic Screaming Eagle. He has also represented well-known directors, a cinematographer, a symphony conductor, actors and an NBA team. He represented the musician Alan Parsons in defending his rights through litigation in Spain and the UK, as well as the US, and has represented Paige in actions in Australia, Sizzler in actions in Mexico and U-Haul in actions in Costa Rica.
Berman is multi-directional; he has handled numerous intellectual property litigations, including successful appeals before the Federal Circuit and 9th Circuit. He also lobbied before the California Legislature regarding an amendment to unfair competition laws.
