UCLA Health’s Janet Rimicci leads the 2023 Greater Los Angeles Heart and Stroke Walk

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Los Angeles County and Janet Rimicci, Senior Director of the UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center at UCLA Health, is stepping up to save lives as this year’s volunteer chairperson of the American Heart Association’s Greater Los Angeles Heart and Stroke Walk.

The annual event, which takes place on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, aims to raise $1.1 million for the Association’s mission of building healthier lives for all. In her role, Rimicci will lead the efforts to engage community members and local companies to join the fight against heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases while promoting physical and mental well-being in the local workforce and the community.

“As a former cardiothoracic ICU nurse, I took care of patients undergoing heart surgeries during their most vulnerable times. I was passionate about improving clinical outcomes and helping to prevent patients from coming to the hospital in the first place,” said Rimicci. “Serving as the Heart and Stroke Walk chairperson gives me the opportunity to support the American Heart Association’s goal of transforming communities so that every person has the opportunity to live a full and healthy life.” Companies interested in getting involved in the walk to save lives may contact Katie Beck at [email protected] or visit HeartWalkLA.org.

The Greater Los Angeles Heart and Stroke Walk is sponsored by UCLA Health, Optum, Keck Medicine of USC, Dignity Health Southern California and Providence.
