Recent success includes his work representing a litigation funding company who the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and New York Attorney General were pursuing for hundreds of millions of dollars, asserting consumer protection claims across multiple jurisdictions. After more than five years of litigation, Hammer and his colleagues from King & Spalding resolved these actions for a mere $1 penalty in November 2022, with no admission of liability or finding of fault.
Hammer also represented an affordable housing investor in the Central District of California in a partnership dispute involving a low-income housing tax credit property, prevailing on summary judgment on an issue that is closely watched in the industry and has been litigated in federal and state courts throughout the country.
