Rypplzz Raises $3 Million

Spatial computing company Rypplzz Inc. is launching with a $3 million pre-seed funding round including investment from Deal Box Ventures, Fulcrom Investing and Innovative Venture Partners.

Rypplzz’s platform is based upon its patented geospatial mapping software, which is designed primarily for advertising and engagement purposes. By offering spatial mapping that is accurate within 6 inches of an object, its technology creates “intelligent” airspace that enables digital files to be programmed with augmented reality, virtual reality and Web3 technology.

“This next generation of spatial computing will soon combine physical context with data in real time while using mixed reality as its interface,” Rypplzz founder and Chief Executive Josh Pendrick said. “The shift will deliver never-before seen user experiences that are not confined to our phones and computer screens. What’s especially important to underscore is that this will not be limited only to entertainment purposes, but it will provide critical utility, convenience and automation that are uniquely enabled by the blending of the physical and digital worlds.”

The Hermosa Beach-based company said it is launching from stealth after recently partnering with the Tucson Convention Center in Arizona on a fan engagement campaign, as well as with musician Grimes, who used Rypplzz’s technology at an AR event she recently hosted at the Miami Ultra Music Festival.

Pendrick said that Rypplzz’s spatial computing OS can be used by security, property management and entertainment companies, and that it has also gained traction in the sports and retail sectors.

The company offers a platform called Interlife that is comprised of various technological tools, including 3D WiFi, Bubblzz and LightPlay. 3D is a positioning system and radio frequency network to aid digi-physical mapping, while Bubblzz is a spatial operating system that integrates technology such as AI, mixed reality and computer vision to enable digital content placement. With LightPlay, which is a browser platform, users can engage with, create and share the digital content. The LightPlay browser can be integrated into other apps, as well.

Rypplzz’s services runs as a SaaS model with an implementation fee, as well as a licensing fee on either a monthly or quarterly basis. Licensing costs depends on the size of the project and deployment, with an ability to fund upfront costs and capture a percentage of revenue on the backend if a client has budgetary issues. Pendrick said the company currently has about 10 clients and partners, which are mostly sports and entertainment entities.

In addition to marketing and engagement purposes, the company is also pushing its patented OS into the security sector.
