Painter has a long history of integrating digital technologies and new business models into the world of automotive sales. Painter currently serves as the chief executive of Santa Monica based-Autonomy. Autonomy has a vehicle subscription service for electric vehicles and in July it announced a national partnership with automotive retailer AutoNation Inc. He co-founded TrueCar Inc. in 2004. Painter also co-founded digital leasing company Fair Financial Corp. in 2016 and served as its CEO until 2019.
