DAVID SAYAH
PULMONOLOGY
Medical Director, UCLA Health’s Lung and
Heart-Lung Transplant Programs
UCLA Health
Dr. David Sayah is an assistant professor at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and a pulmonary medicine physician specializing in lung transplant. He is the medical director of the UCLA Health lung and heart-lung transplant programs. Dr. Sayah and the UCLA Health transplant team receive patient referrals from other programs that don’t have the capability to manage complex cases. Patients might be rejected from other centers because of the complexity of their conditions or underlying medical problems that contribute to high surgical risks. Some patients who receive transplants at UCLA Health require concurrent cardiac surgery, suffer from scleroderma or need extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment before transplantation.
