Tetra Tech Nabs Trio of Federal Contracts

Pasadena-based engineering and consulting firm Tetra Tech Inc. announced last month that it was awarded three federal contracts.
The first – and largest – of the contract awards was a five-year, $100 million contract from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Research and Development to assess human health and ecological risks associated with global climate change.

Under this contract, Tetra Tech will provide technical support services to assess the ability of ecosystems to adapt to varying conditions from factors such as climate change, urbanization, and habitat loss.

According to the Sept. 1 announcement, Tetra Tech’s scientists and engineers will develop predictive models for various climate scenarios including sea-level rise, storm surges, and threats to drinking water supplies. They will create interactive, web-based geographic information system displays to facilitate the use and sharing of information for effective decision-making.

“Tetra Tech has supported EPA’s Office of Research and Development in developing science-based solutions for more than 15 years,” Tetra Tech Chief Executive Dan Batrack said in the announcement. “We are pleased to continue using our ‘leading with science’ approach and … technologies to assess global climate change impacts and develop adaptation strategies to strengthen the resilience of ecosystems and human health.”

Next up was a $49.5 million, five-year contract from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, for environmental consulting and engineering services to help assess and clean up sites in California, Nevada, and Arizona.

According to the Sept.8 announcement, the company has received its first task order under the indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract: cleanup of 134 acres at a site in San Diego, a job valued at around $4.7 million.
