CAA Settles Worldview Entertainment Suit

Creative Artists Agency has concluded a three-year legal battle with Worldview Entertainment Holdings Inc.

Worldview and CAA reached a deal Dec. 10 in which Worldview “agreed to dismiss all of their claims against (CAA) in exchange for no monetary consideration, in a ‘walk away’ settlement,” per the language of the filing.

The settlement ends an almost three-year arbitration process, without either party admitting fault or liability. The filing additionally stipulates that the settlement is not confidential, but CAA and Worldview mutually agree not to issue any press releases concerning the agreement.

The New York-based motion picture company sued CAA in January 2018 for shepherding Worldview to invest in 20 films at a cost of approximately $55 million, which exacerbated its debts while benefiting the Beverly Hills-based talent and sports agency and its clients.

After succeeding in moving the proceedings to arbitration in April 2018, CAA continued to defend itself against allegations legal counsel called “spurious” while spotlighting Worldview’s other legal and financial entanglements with other companies.
