The jobs are part of a broader push by the Seattle-based commerce giant to fill 1,400 positions in the Southern California area and 55,000 globally, Dot.LA reported Sept. 1.
“There are so many jobs during the pandemic that have been displaced or have been altered, and there are so many people who are thinking about different and new jobs,” Jassy said in an interview with Reuters.
The Los Angeles hiring spree adds to the 600 openings announced in mid-August for Amazon's Cerritos and La Habra Amazon Fresh grocery stores, which are expected to open in the coming months. The company also operates Amazon Fresh stores in Woodland Hills, Whittier, Long Beach, Ladera Heights, Fullerton and North Hollywood.
Amazon also has offices in Culver City for Amazon Studios, its content production business.
