Box Office: ‘Exodus’ Dethrones ‘Mockingjay’

20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment’s biblical epic “Exodus: Gods and Kings” topped the U.S. box office this weekend with a $24.5 million debut, dethroning “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1,” which fell to the No. 2 slot, taking in $13.2 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Struggling Mattel Dethroned – Again

Just a few months after Denmark’s Lego dethroned El Segundo’s Mattel Inc. as the world’s biggest toymaker by revenue, Mattel this week took another hit: On Monday, rival Hasbro Inc. of Pawtucket, R.I., surpassed Mattel’s market cap, becoming the most valuable publicly traded toy company.

For the first time in years, Kaufman & Broad is not the biggest homebuilder in Los Angeles County. Miami-based Lennar Corp. has dethroned the local giant after buying several smaller developers that were involved in local home projects.
