Roy Reel has joined Harley Ellis Devereaux as the west region co-director of the corporate and commercial studio. Reel was previously executive director at McLarand Vasquez Emsiek & Partners.


HOK has promoted Michael Gould to vice president of its Los Angeles office. Gould was previously senior associate at CO Architects.



Banking & Finance

Protiviti Inc., an internal audit and risk-consulting firm, has promoted Gabby Gabriel to director at its Los Angeles office. Gabriel had served as associate director.

Deutsche Bank Alex Brown, the U.S. Private Client Services division of Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., has hired John Uriostegui as director and client advisor and Rod Nakamoto as vice president and client advisor at its Los Angeles office. Uriostegui was recently senior vice president of the wealth management division at Smith Barney; Nakamoto was vice president at Smith Barney.

Indymac Bank has made the following personnel changes at its Pasadena headquarters: Yun-Ni Chen was promoted to senior vice president, investment portfolio; Boulton Fernando was named senior vice president, chief security officer; and Marnell Land was promoted to vice president, compliance and operations corporate administration procurement. Chen was previously first vice president; Fernando was vice president of worldwide security at Technicolor Entertainment Services; Land was manager of vendor management compliance at Indymac.

Carina Jacob has joined First Bank as assistant vice president and business banking officer at its Beverly Hills office. Jacob was formerly branch sales manager at Bank of the West in Pasadena.



Engineering

Parsons Corp., a Pasadena-based construction and engineering company, has elected Curtis A. Bower as vice chairman of the board and special assistant to the chairman and chief executive. Prior to his appointment, Bower was executive vice president, chief financial officer, and treasurer with the firm.



Government

The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce has appointed the following as members to its board: Norman Abrams, acting chancellor of UCLA; Elaine Batchlor, chief medical officer of L.A. Care Health Plan; Rory DeJohn, vice president and general manager of Turner Construction Co.’s Los Angeles office; Peter Griffith, vice chair of Ernst & Young LLP and managing partner of the Pacific Southwest area; Walter Hill Jr., chairman, president and chief executive of Icon Blue Inc.; Jim McConnell, president of the Seville Group; and Hilary Norton Orozco, vice president of community development for Palmer Investments.



Health Care

Barlow Respiratory Hospital Foundation Board has named the following members: Carl Weissburg, of counsel at Foley & Lardner; Denise Anthony, vice president of major accounts at Land America Commercial Services; Steve Sullivan, local sales manager at KNX-AM (1070); Jenny Ming-Chen Hwang, physician at White Memorial Hospital; and Betty Buckingham, retired.

DDL West, a package and product testing company specializing in medical manufacturers, has named Karen Greene technical director. Greene was director of package engineering at Seltzer Nutritional Technologies.

Orion Health, a provider of clinical workflow and integration technology for the health care sector, has appointed John Lightfoot as chief technology officer of its North American division in Santa Monica. Lightfoot was principal at CSC Global Health Solutions.

Stuart H. Levine has been appointed to chief medical officer of Prospect Medical Holdings Inc., a Culver City-based company that manages medical care for HMO plans. Levine was medical director at Scan Health Plan.


City of Hope has named Robert Figlin chairman of the division of medical oncology and experimental therapeutics, associate director for clinical research, and the Arthur and Rosalie Kaplan professor of medical oncology. Figlin is currently a professor of medicine and urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Olympia Medical Center has appointed Karen L. Fox to its board. Fox is a rabbi at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple.



Law

Giam Nguyen has joined the Los Angeles office of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham as an associate in the intellectual property department. Nguyen was previously an associate at Jones Day.



Marketing

Campos Creative Works Inc., a Santa Monica-based international producer of business-to-business marketing events, has appointed Eric Germansky to staff executive producer. Germansky was a freelance producer and show director.



Media

ReelzChannel, a network featuring news and shows about movies, has hired Lee Dollar as vice president of programming for studio and content development. Previously, Dollar was vice president of worldwide promotions for Sony Pictures Columbia TriStar marketing group.


Webzen America, a global online interactive entertainment company, has made the following hires: Michael Morrison as senior director of information technology; Tim Hesse and Tim Holman as senior producers; and Serene Chan as senior brand manager. Morrison was formerly senior director of IT infrastructure at Vivendi Universal Games; Hesse was a producer for Atari/Infogrames and GT Interactive; Holman served as a producer for Bad Kitty Studio at WMS Gaming; and Chan was senior product manager of Midway Home Entertainment.
