Kodak Trims Operations, Cuts Jobs

Eastman Kodak Co. on Thursday disclosed plans to close some operations in its home town and scale back film production operations in China at a cost of 900 jobs as its responds to lower demand for consumer film and photographic paper.


It plans to consolidate North American color photographic paper manufacturing at plants in Windsor, Colo., and Harrow, England, and said it will close an operation in Rochester by the end of October. The company said the actions will cut 900 jobs with more than half in Rochester, resulting in charges of about $153 million from asset write-offs and severance benefits.
