RadNet Expands Through New Joint Ventures

Sawtelle-based diagnostic imaging services provider RadNet Inc. made a pair of announcements in late October that expand the company’s reach.

On Oct. 20, RadNet announced a partnership with Roseville-based Adventist Health to create an outpatient imaging joint venture in Simi Valley that will initially include three outpatient facilities.

Under the agreement, RadNet will contribute two of its Simi Valley imaging Centers, Alamo Advanced Imaging and Simi Valley Advanced Imaging, and Adventist Health will contribute its Aspen Outpatient Imaging Center. The facilities will together operate X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging, cumulative topography and ultrasound imaging services.

In addition, RadNet will assume operational management of Adventist Health’s Nancy Reagan Breast Center, which performs mammography, breast ultrasound, imaging-guided biopsies and related women’s health services.

“We are pleased to announce our new affiliation with Adventist Health, one of the largest health systems on the West Coast of the continental United States and Hawaii,” RadNet Chief Executive Howard Berger said in the announcement. “Aligning with such a high-quality and devoted partner will enhance the service offerings to the referring physician and patient communities of Simi Valley,” he said.

On Oct. 27, RadNet announced it had expanded its Arizona presence by establishing its third outpatient radiology joint venture with Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health.

The venture, which will be known as Arizona Diagnostic Radiology Group, will serve the Phoenix area through the opening and acquisition of an unspecified number of outpatient imaging centers. Those centers will work with CommonSpirit’s Dignity Health hospitals and various medical group practices in the region.

“We are pleased to announce both our entrance into a new geographic market and the expansion of our relationship with Dignity Health,” Berger said.

RadNet also announced that in a separate transaction it had acquired Casa Grande, Ariz.-based AZ Tech MRI & Radiology, which has eight locations throughout Arizona. No further details were provided on the purchase.
