THE LATEST: Resnick’s company in March announced a commitment to reach 100% renewable energy by 2025 and has begun signing contracts with third parties to develop renewable power projects on Wonderful Co. land that are intended to provide almost all 85 megawatts of the company’s peak-capacity power needs.
BACKGROUND: Resnick founded agriculture company Wonderful Co. with his wife, Lynda, in 1979 after investing in California farmland and grew Wonderful into a $4 billion business. The company’s brands include POM Wonderful, Fiji Water, Teleflora, Wonderful Halos mandarins and Wonderful Pistachios. He oversees Wonderful’s finance, legal, real estate, strategy, human resources and business unit operations. Resnick also sits on numerous boards, including those for the J. Paul Getty Trust, the Anderson School of Management at UCLA and Caltech. Resnick received a bachelor’s degree and JD from UCLA.
WORTH NOTING: The Resnicks also provided $30 million to create the Resnick Sustainability Institute at Caltech.
