Drucker Enlists J.D. Power on Company Ranking
Special Delivery: Amazon.com hauled this promo for Amblin Entertainment’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” movie to The Grove in Fairfax.

The Drucker Institute, a “social enterprise” based at Claremont Graduate University on the eastern edge of Los Angeles County, has partnered with J.D. Power and Associates in Costa Mesa on the annual Drucker Institute Company Ranking.

The annual publication ranks nearly 700 large-cap, U.S.-based companies using data from more than a dozen providers, according to the Drucker Institute. Rankings are determined “through the lens of 37 indicators that fall under five dimensions of corporate performance: customer satisfaction, employee engagement and development, innovation, social responsibility and financial strength.”

The metrics are based on a “core set of principles” from the late Peter Drucker, a longtime educator who became famous as a sort management guru who brought many ideas and principles from Japan to the U.S. business landscape.

“Mr. Drucker famously wrote, ‘To satisfy the customer is the mission and purpose of every business,’” Drucker Institute Executive Director Zachary First said in a statement. “We believe J.D. Power supports this same principle. Along with bringing J.D. Power’s expertise into the Drucker Institute Company Ranking, our goal is to initiate a similar ranking of large, publicly traded Japanese companies. Many executives in Japan revere the wisdom of Peter Drucker, and we believe they would welcome the chance to work with the Drucker Institute to deliver greater value to their customers and stakeholders.”

J.D. Power, founded in 1968 and famous for its Power Circle Ratings, conducts independent consumer surveys of product and service quality and customer satisfaction in industries such as automotive, financial services, health care, insurance, energy and telecommunications.

Grove’s Special Delivery

Add a 14-foot T-Rex to the line up at The Grove.

Amazon.com Inc. helped Universal Pictures in Studio City deliver a 40-foot-long and 9-foot tall package to The Grove retail center that contained a model of a dinosaur featured in Amblin Entertainment’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” movie.

The package delivery was accompanied by a motorcade of Jeep Wranglers, also a sponsor.

The T-Rex was slated for display until June 10, a couple of days before the movie’s red-carpet premiere on June 12 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The marketing stunt with the big package at The Grove was a play on a scene from a movie in which a deck hand aboard a ship scans an oversized box and gets frightened by a roar coming from within.

The box remained unopened at the shopping center for three days during which movie fans could ask Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa for hints about its contents.

NHRA Sponsor

The National Hot Rod Association in Glendora picked up Delaware-based JEGS Automotive Inc. as title sponsor for its Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event on May 31 to June 3 at the Route 66 Raceway outside of Chicago. The automotive equipment retailer has been sponsoring several drivers in both professional and sportsman categories.

The three-day JEGS Automotive event, one of 24 in the Mello Yello series, included competitors in Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Stock, and Super Street categories, who were vying for a share of the $124,000 purse.
