Hayma Washington is chairman and chief executive of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Washington was elected to chair the organization in 2016 as the first African-American to hold the job. Washington’s TV and film production career includes live sports, award shows, independent films and short-form digital content. He was associate producer for the first “MTV Video Music Awards” and executive producer of “The Amazing Race.” Washington spent 10 years as vice president of production for The Walt Disney Studios’ Buena Vista Productions unit, where he produced syndicated programs such as “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee” and “Siskel & Ebert.” The seven-time Emmy Award winner also served two terms as television vice president for the Producers Guild of America.
