Next Trucking to Hire 50 Employees

Next Trucking, a Lynwood-based mobile company connecting carriers to shippers, announced it will hire over 50 people in engineering, sales, operations and marketing in 2018, Socaltech reports. The news comes on the heels of a $21 million funding round from Sequoia Capital in February. A spokesperson with the company said it plans to compete directly with Uber Freight to disrupt the trucking industry.

RealD Inks Extension with Cinemark

Cinemark has renewed its 3D agreement with Beverly Hills-based RealD across its global platform through December 2022, Variety reports. The national theater chain also plans to install RealD 3D systems in new cinemas during the term of the extension.

Bot Bill Passes Next Test

Senator Bob Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, announced that SB 1001, the bill he authored with Common Sense Kids Action to require social media companies to label automated accounts on their sites, passed its second committee hearing when the Senate Judiciary Committee approved it on a 5-1 vote. SB 1001 will head to the Senate Appropriations Committee next month and, if successful, will then be heard on the Senate Floor.
