Tony Sciarrino has been tapped to be the new chairman of L.A. Sports Council, taking over from Karen Brodkin, whose tenure ran from 2013.

“Tony brings his business acumen and a passion for sports and Southern California to his new role with the Sports Council,” Brodkin said.

Sciarrino is a client acquisition executive in the Global Commercial Banking group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

“I look forward to building on the work done by the Sports Council under Karen’s chairmanship by growing the annual LA Sports Awards and by expanding the organization’s resources in order to bring more major special events to Southern California,” he said in a statement.

The council, a private, nonprofit organization that aims to promote spectator sports programs in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, also announced the additions of John Boyle, president and chief executive of the Automotive Club of Southern California; Bill Hanaway, executive vice president and global sports leader of Aecom; and Lon Rosen, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of the Dodgers, to the board for 2018-2019.
