LB Airport Opens Acres for Projects

More than 30 acres of land have been made available for aeronautical use at Long Beach Airport, city officials announced Tuesday.

The city has released a request for development proposals for aviation-related purposes that would complement adjacent businesses. Five parcels at the site range in size from 128,000 to 487,000 square feet.

The 31-acre site is situated near 90 acres of land owned by Boeing Co. that was formerly used for the manufacturing of the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III military plane.

The availability of that much land for aviation purposes has not occurred at the airport since the Kilroy Airport Center and Long Beach Airport Business Park were developed in the 1980s and early 1990s, respectively.
