Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, at one time co-owned hip-hop music label Death Row Records, then later started Aftermath Entertainment, producing top artists such as Snoop Dogg and Eminem. He co-founded Beats Electronics with record producer Jimmy Iovine in 2008, debuting the company’s audio line with the Beats by Dr. Dre Studio headphones. Apple purchased the company in 2014 for $3 billion. He is featured in the HBO music documentary “The Defiant Ones.” A native of Compton, he recently donated $10 million to the city’s high school.
