Earthquake Early Warning System Shakeup

California’s early earthquake warning system will be getting beefed up if Gov. Jerry Brown’s latest budget proposal is passed by the state legislature, KPCC reports. The project would allocate $10 million for the pilot project and would use sensors placed near faults to detect the rumbling of the quake as it starts and could give up to a minute’s warning time before shaking reaches major cities.
