Charged Up: Century City private equity firm OpenGate Capital has acquired power transformer manufacturer Power Partners Inc. of Athens, Ga., from PPI Inc., a manufacturing company with related holdings. Power Partners was founded in 1958 and generates more than $140 million in revenue. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.


Digital Music: Venice’s Zealot Networks, a monetizer and distributor of digital content, has acquired Sherman Oaks music rights management startup AdRev. Zealot already owned a majority stake in AudioMicro, AdRev’s parent company. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.


Dialed In: Santa Monica app maker Unmute has raised $2.2 million in a seed round led by Greycroft Partners of downtown Los Angeles. Unmute’s app allows users to share live voice calls with other users. Users can also share comments and photos during the call.


On Move: Beverly Hills investment firm Platinum Equity has acquired logistics and security firm PAE of Arlington, Va. PAE, which works with the U.S. government and international groups. It had been a portfolio company of New York investment firm Lindsay Goldberg. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.



Multifamily Pickup: FSC Realty of Beverly Hills has acquired an 11-building residential complex in Northridge for almost $31.2 million from Starpoint Properties, also of Beverly Hills. The Village at Granada Hills, at 10435 Lindley Ave., was built in the 1970s and renovated in 2008.


Message Received: Encino’s MPulse Mobile has raised $10 million in a Series A round led by HLM Venture Partners of Boston. MPulse, which automates patient and health care provider communications over text and in-app messaging as well as emails, will use the money to improve its software.



Production Deal: VER, a Glendale provider of productions services to the entertainment industry, has acquired the business of DPS Inc., a similarly focused company in Burbank, in a sale ordered by bankruptcy court. As part of the deal, VER acquired much of DPS’ equipment and its facility in Burbank. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.



Apartments Purchased: IMT Capital has sold a 208-unit Santa Clarita apartment complex to an unnamed institutional investor. IMT Valencia, at 28100 Smyth Drive, has 19 buildings spread over 12.7 acres of land. The sale price was not disclosed.
