Revolve Makes Fashion Statement With Profits

Downtown clothing company Revolve is a local fashion powerhouse, selling $440 million worth of apparel, yet you may not have heard of it. Likewise, the top execs, Michael Mente and Mike Karanikolas, are not household names, a strategy in place since 2003 involving slow growth and anonymity.

Mente and Karanikolas revealed in a Fortune profile Thursday that the ultimate goal for Revolve is to achieve status as a $1 billion company. Not a “unicorn” startup with a $1 billion valuation, but $1 billion in actual sales.

In contrast to some of its venture capital-funded competitors, Revolve beat its 2015 revenue projection by 10 percent and expects to grow 40-50 percent in the coming year.
